Val Masferrer Oliveira

Val Masferrer Oliveira is a London-based Brazilian artist who worked in Marketing and Advertising for 16 years in Brazil. In 2003 she moved to Europe where she started to study Interior Design in different schools, including Inchbald School of Design (London) and IED Istituto Europeu di Design (Madrid).

Photography has been her passion since 1982 when she took her first course. A passion that she has kept live while she was working in other areas. Some years ago she decided to explore it artistically and professionally.

She has travelled extensively around the world (India, Japan, China, French Polynesia, Russia, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, Thailand, Indonesia , Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Tanzania, Kenya, Jordan, Israel ...) where she started to collect materials for a long term project she calls "Moods Around the World".

She is interested in cultures, philosophies and religions as well as in shapes, colours, patterns and textures. Their contrasts, their differences, their true identity…essences.

Her work tells stories of special "corners" of the world… by just capturing the moments…. small hidden secrets of each culture that somehow she absorbed and now influence her life and style.
